Hospital ministry in India has become one of my favorite missionary endeavors! Most people don't want to be sick or hurting, so when they receive healing, it opens the door to deeper conversation on who Jesus is.
Myself and a friend went praying bed to bed at an Indian hospital, at the request of many families who's loved ones were admitted. One girl, age 14 with STUNNINGLY beautiful eyes, had visible head wounds. She was on her apartment balcony, of the 2nd floor, when a monkey jumped onto her balcony and scared her. As she jumped out of fright, she accidentally jumped off of her balcony and landed on her head.
Doctor's had to shave her entire head, drain bleeding, and stitch up three large deep wounds. In addition to severe pain, she had a large hematoma on the right side of her head. (I'm not sure why doctor's didn't drain that one.) Her mother asked us to pray for her daughter. She had fear and sadness in her eyes as she spoke.
We sat on this teenagers bed, and spoke words of love over her. Then my friend laid her hand over the hematoma and I put my hand on the girl's back. We prayed a prayer that lasted for about one minute. We removed our hands from this girl's body and the hematoma was almost completely gone! We prayed one more time to see if we could get it down to 100% and it was about 90% healed.
The mother was shocked! She asked us how we did that. Through a translator, we explained that our God is Jesus, and Jesus loves her daughter. Jesus loves her daughter so much that He wanted to heal her, as a sign of His love. She wanted to know more about our God, and the daughter asked if we had a book for her to read about our God.
The next day we came back with a Bible in their local language, and had her start with John 3:16. “For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] [a]only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life."
